THE ASSOCIATION SPONSORS "RAG DOLLS" IN A TOY PROJECT |
Always active in making contributions to education in particular, the Association continues to focus on social responsibility projects that support children. The Association will now be sponsoring the project of the European Toy Museum Union (TOYCO), envisioned by the notable public personality Sunay Akın, who has founded the Istanbul Toy Museum. The first meeting of TOYCO was held in Istanbul. The Association's contribution to the project will center on the theme of "rag dolls." The focus will be on the history of textiles and regenerating the culture of games and toys, the most important assets in the world of children.
The Turkish textiles sector will be a presence at this first meeting of the toy museums to take place in Turkey in November and the rag dolls that will be produced will be a reflection of the sector's strength to the world of imagination of the children. Halit Narin, President of the Turkish Textile Employers' Association said about the event: "This will be the first time the European Toy Museums Union (TOYCO) will be meeting, under the leadership of our friend Sunay Akın, at an international conference in Turkey. Within this project, each country will be presenting an exhibit of its own culture. In his efforts to engage the textile sector in this project, Sunay Akın brought us the "rag doll" concept and we were very excited to contemplate the activities that we could base on this concept. This is because in Turkey, the rag dolls that are a part of our culture each tell the story of the textiles of the region that they come from. Every region has its own woven fabrics, designs, fibers and culture of dress. This all comes alive and is reflected in dolls. Displaying the strength and beauty of Turkey's textiles in the imaginary world of children by contributing to the event with an exhibit of rag dolls will be a wonderful opportunity for Turkey's textile manufacturers."
